Yearbook Info

In order to lower the costs of the yearbook, we have begun a fundraiser that will last two and a half more weeks.  Go to www.insiderpages.com/fundraisers/southeastern-elementary-yearbook  “Join this fundraiser,” and begin writing reviews on businesses that you have frequented.  Chain businesses (Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, etc.) are excluded.  If you are the first to review the business, our cause gets $1; if you are the second, third, or fourth, our cause gets $.25.  Every little bit helps.  Please take a few minutes the next 17 days, and fill out some reviews.

We are also changing the delivery date of the yearbooks.  Since we have begun school sponsored sports, I want them to be covered in the yearbook as well.  In order to do this, our yearbooks will be delivered when school starts back next year.  I know this might cause some problems, but you can pay $4 extra and have your yearbook mailed directly to your house straight from the plant.

Yearbook staffers are currently selling page sponsorships. In order to maximize the pages in our yearbook, we are eliminating ads.  Instead of having almost eight pages dedicated to ads, each page will be sponsored by a business or person.  A line of text will be added to the bottom of each page, stating who has sponsored this page.  If you would like to sponsor a page, please track down one of our yearbook staffers.

I also wanted to tell you that Mr. Richard was awarded the Sam’s Club Teacher of the Year today.  Envoys from Sam’s delivered a delicious cake for everyone, $1000 check for Southeastern, $100 check for Mr. Richard’s classroom, $100 gift card for Mr. Richard’s personal use, and goody bags for all of the 8th graders.  It was quite a surprise to Mr. Richard but such an honor.

I’m still working on the best way to cover all of the objectives I need to cover, so forgive me if my method seems a bit like madness right now.  I promise you that my goal is to teach your child everything he/she needs to know for testing and success in the next grade.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.  If you get a chance, check out the Bible Club website.  www.southeasternbibleclub.blogspot.com

Week of September 15

First things first - Volleyball game Monday!! Go Lady Mustangs!!

I want to apologize, but classes will be taking a new direction.  This year we FINALLY got new textbooks, and I decided to tackle grammar, writing, and literature for the first time ever.  I’ve been struggling with how to get it all in before the end of the year, but I think I’ve got a handle on it now.  We will be doing three weeks of writing and grammar and three weeks of literature.  I want to be able to thoroughly cover the material so that the students are ready for SATs and the next grade.

So, here’s what this week will look like…

8th Grade - Writing/Grammar

7th Grade - Writing/Grammar

6th Grade - Writing/Grammar

I will also be sending out updated progress reports this week (my class only).

Hilarious

I may be behind the 8-ball on this video, but I saw this guy on a rerun of Oprah today and had to watch it. Once I watched it over and over and over, then showed it to Kevin and watched it over and over, I laughed and laughed and laughed. What’s sad is that I recognize/know almost all of these dance moves. Please enjoy the “Evolution of Dance.”

Summer’s here :(

I know, I know.  Aren’t teachers supposed to be excited to be out for the summer?  Normally, I would, but this year it just reminds me that it won’t be very long until I won’t be able to be with Jack every day, all day.  It is going to be SO hard not being with him.  I have been very blessed to have had four good months with him before I have to go back to work, but it doesn’t seem long enough.  He is such an amazing little guy that I can’t imagine not spending every day with him.

He’s growing like a weed.  He’s wearing three month clothes, and even some of his 0-3 month sleepers have had to be retired because his torso is too long for them.  He’s doing such a good job at keeping on a schedule.  When he was born, I hoped he would have a set schedule, and boy does he now!  He eats 6 ounces every four hours, takes a bath between 8 and 8:30, takes a few more ounces, and then he’s down for the count around 9 or so.  He then sleeps through the night until between 6 and 7.  If any of these are late, he will let you know.  He’s like an alarm clock, “It’s been 4 hours…waa! It’s bath time…waa!  It’s time for bed…waa!”  He will even soothe himself to sleep if we put him in his crib sleepy.  He’s such a good baby, I’m scared to have a second one.  I will say, though, I miss being pregnant, and I can’t wait to go through the whole thing again.

Well, good night for now.
